Hey, you made it! Welcome to a slightly better-looking platform for a writer who is unfortunately no better-looking than the day before. But I am covering the Dallas Stars, and they’re looking pretty good, Miro Heiskanen’s potential injury notwithstanding.
If you’re here, I’m grateful. Taking the leap to rely on your support to keep doing this has been very weird, but the overwhelming amount of kindness over the last couple of days has been very, uh, overwhelming. Thank you for reading my work, and I’ll do my best to make that support worth your while—or at least to be a brief diversion from more boring things, like the Eastern Conference.
The Stars practice on Thursday at 11:30am, and I’ll be there to ask questions and learn about the latest news on Miro Heiskanen’s injury. Then I’ll write about it, here! And you will get to read it. That’s pretty cool, right?
Once we know the extent of the injury, we’ll review the Stars’ internal options during his absence, whether they need to consider making additional trades, and whether you, yes you, might get recruited to play defense for Team Finland for 4 Nations next month if you walk by the embassy any time soon.
Thanks for coming along for the ride. I’m sure I have some wrinkles to iron out on the new platform, but overall, I’m already more pleased with Substack’s UI than Wordpress, and that’s good news for me, personally.
In all sincerity, your support means the world, because it means there’s a viable market for this whole crazy thing to keep on going. And hey, look at that, a subscription button! How’d that get there?
Ho ho, you know we like to have fun around here, folks. Also, just one other quick little “fun” thing: if you haven’t subscribed yet, the Substack Mafia will be coming to your next family gathering, uninvited, and they will not bring anything more than some loose napkins and paper plates, and maybe a small casserole. I hate to resort to threats, but it’s a brave new world, and we all must bear up. Or so I once heard, back in the old days. (A brave old world?) Skip it.
There are 32 games left until the playoffs, and we’re gonna cover the living daylights out of this team before and after each and every one of ‘em. Join us, won’t you?

Glad to be part of this endeavor as well. Followed you from DBD and your writing has always been top notch!
